Energy is the basic component which triggers all our activities. The level of our performance is largely dependent on our energy level. Energy needs to be replenished each day; anything we do requires energy. It is therefore critical that we learn ways to increase our energy. Indeed, our market today is flooded with a variety of energy drinks. However, it would be best to derive energy naturally by making a few simple adjustments in our lifestyle. Your personal habits like eating nutritious meals, exercising regularly and sleeping adequately each day, can substantially increase your energy levels. Here are three basic tips to help you increase your energy: 1-Eat balanced meals Eating smaller proportions of food while increasing the number of meals consumed per day, is the most important first step. It would be most beneficial to eat balanced meals; particularly include proteins, vegetables, fruits, whole grains, fish and nuts in your diet. To increase your energy levels on a continual basis, it is critical to nourish your body with sufficient supply of nutrients. Eating balanced meals ensures that all your body's vitamins and mineral needs are sufficiently met. Avoid skipping breakfast or even any other meal. It is also important to keep your body hydrated by drinking at least 6-8 glasses of water daily. Insufficient intake of water, could lead to dehydration and cause fatigue, preventing the optimal functioning of the body. Excessive use of alcohol, sugar and caffeine, can lower your blood sugar levels, thereby decreasing your energy levels as well. 2-Sleep soundly Sleep and rest is as essential to one's body as much as food. To stay energized all throughout the day, it is critical to get the right amount of sleep- - -a minimum of 7-8 hours every night. The quality of sleep is equally important; for example, sleep between 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. is found to be most beneficial for one's immune system. Regularize your bed-time and wake-up time to keep in tune with your body's internal clock. Studies indicate that taking a power nap during mid-day for at least 15 to 30 minutes daily, is a good way to boost your energy levels. Getting sufficient sleep is a top energy booster; so make sure you sleep soundly every night. 3 -Exercise regularly Regular exercise is an important energizing source. Following a regular exercise routine can be most beneficial in boosting one's energy; performing any activity like walking, biking, swimming, dancing, can be refreshing and invigorating for one's body and mind. Walking is found to be the simplest and easiest form of exercise. Like any other exercise, it can help to keep you fit and healthy. Begin slowly, and then gradually increase the pace to brisk walking while also increasing the duration of the exercise. Soon, you will find an increase in energy as you get into the habit of exercising regularly. - Conclusion In today's complex and fast paced lives, stress can be the major deterrent to optimal health. A build-up of daily stress can considerably zap your energy levels. Relaxation is the key; take a minimum of 20-30 minutes to yourself and pursue any calming activity that interests you; it could be watching a romantic movie, reading a book, listening to music or simply chatting with a friend. Practice breathing deeply from your belly; it could energize and revitalize your entire body. Prioritize your to-do list by mentally discarding the trivial items.
