Everyone is always looking for the next easy thing when it comes to exercise, and having the energy to perform at our peak levels. Often we go into activities such as these knowing that we are going to need an extra boost, and PowerBars are one of the sources that a lot of people look to. We need carbohydrates in order to do well, and what these bars do, is give you a quick infusion of those cards, and some calories (along with a lot of vitamins) that can be a healthy substitute for some of the other fast foods we could end up choosing. It's not always easy to eat healthy, but with PowerBar, they have brought us an easy method that doesn't have to take a lot of time to deal with. In particular here, I have picked up the PowerBar High Performance Energy Bars. There have a lot of options that you can go with, which include Chocolate and Peanut Butter Crisp just to name a few. What I bought at Safeway though, was the Oatmeal Raisin version of this bar. I had noticed that they were doing one of their 10 bars for $10.00 deals, and I thought that for a buck, I could try out this high performance bar and I wouldn't be out very much if I didn't end up liking it. I won't proclaim that I am the biggest fan of the PowerBars, because I have had them before, but I didn't remember liking anything about them. The taste, the consistency, and just about everything else had turned me off from them for quite a while. I recently wrote that up to me just being too young when I first tried them, so of course I wanted to give it another try for just $1.00 The Oatmeal Raisin bars normally sell for either $1.39 or $1.49, and you can also pick up a 12-pack box of them for just under $15.00. If it is something that you end up enjoying the taste of, it can be a great "meal" that you pop into your system before you head out to do some working out. This doesn't have to involve lifting weights or something like that, but you can use this on a simple walk, or even when you are going hiking up into the mountains. The exercise isn't of the concern, but rather if you will enjoy eating the PowerBar, and if it will actually give you some of the desired results along the way. For me this was going to be an interesting experience that I was excited about trying. Opening up the PowerBar, you find out that it is built with the texture of a taffy granola bar. Biting into it, you get the consistency of taffy at first as well, but as you chew into it, you start to see the oatmeal raisin flavor that has been advertised to you. Eating it is really a lot like eating taffy with some substance in it. I have to say that my first impression of the bar was a rather odd one, and it really wasn't what I was expecting at first. After a few bites of the PowerBar though, I knew that I was going to enjoy it. I am a huge fan of Oatmeal Raisin cookies, and the bar has the right consistency and taste of a fresh from the over batch of those type of cookies. It wasn't hard to finish off the entire bar. With this being my first endeavor back into eating PowerBars, I must say that I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome. I had planned on potentially being disappointed, but it ended up that this was a dollar well spent by me. The texture was a little odd to get used to, but the taste kept me working at it until it was finished. It did provide a nice little boost of energy for me, and I ended up thinking to myself that I should have tried this specific kind a long time ago. I think that the Oatmeal Raisin PowerBar High Performance Energy Bars are something that everyone in the market should give a chance. They are tasty, are not that expensive, and are so light-weight that you can pop them into a backpack and take them anywhere you are going. For this particular flavor, the Oatmeal Raisin, I highly recommend them with 5 out of 5 stars.
